Top trends at the 74th Golden Globes
They came, they walked and they conquered! As celebrities posed and twirled on the red carpet in their finest for the Golden Globes 2017, we sat down (in our pajamas) to take notes of some of the best fashion trends the 74-year-old awards show had to offer.
So ladies, prep yourself as we highlight the top 5 trends all the way from Beverly Hills.
Giving the cold shoulder
Like you didn’t know this one already? Cold shoulder is the ultimate chic and we have proof in the form of Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman. While these ladies kept it classy in cold shoulder gowns on the red carpet, you too can incorporate it in your wardrobes. Go super casual in cold shoulder shirts and distressed denims. Or take the edgy route with cold shoulder tops, shorts and ankle booties.
All that glitters is gold metallic
Surprise surprise! Breeze through any fashion website and you’ll see your favourite celebs having a major metallic moment at the Golden Globes red carpet. From Priyanka Chopra’s jaw-dropping gold number to Ruth Negga’s futuristic, front-slit silver gown; metallic mania is here to stay. Bonus points to Blake Lively for including gold sequined pockets to her very elegant gown. Add metallic accents to your look with embellished tops and dresses. You can also go glitzy with the make-up and footwear.
Our eyes popped when Blake Lively descended on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in a fitted velvet gown. Velvet is having a major fashion moment right now and if you’re wondering how to include this trend in your closet, think of velvet tops, velvet jackets and even velvet loafers.
It’s all yellow
From the very perky Reese Witherspoon in an off shoulder gown to Emily Ratajkowski in a cheery number with a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit. And from Natalie Portman’s yellow gown to Maisie ‘Arya’ Williams’ floor-sweeping dress, there were a lot of yellow sightings on the red carpet.
If you haven’t already, infuse a lot of yellow in your closet. A yellow tank top or a dress is a great way to march ahead in the season’s favourite colour. Bright yellow neckpieces are another great way to make a statement.
Take the plunge
Plunging necklines were the show stoppers at the Golden Globes held on 8th January this year. From Priyanka Chopra to Emma Stone they all flaunted the stylish V-neck. If you’re not sure that you can pull off a very deep V-neckline, go for a slightly more conservative one. A V-neck party dress is something you should invest in (hint: this could be your Valentine’s Day look).
